In September 2025, the 30,000-cubic-meter hopper-type cutter suction dredger built by Zhenhua Offshore Engineering achieved full-through hull completion. The wear-resistant pipeline system installed on this vessel was custom-designed by Tianjin Wodun Wear-Resistant Materials Co., Ltd., successfully overcoming the extreme wear challenges associated with deep-sea operations.
As a “national strategic asset” independently developed by China, this dredging vessel boasts capabilities of “extraordinarily deep excavation, exceptional soil-breaking performance, and ultra-long-distance discharge,” making it well-suited for major projects such as sand extraction and reclamation in deep and distant waters, as well as seabed pipeline trenching. Its pipeline system must withstand the continuous erosion caused by high-concentration mud and sand, placing stringent demands on wear resistance and pressure resistance. Relying on 20 years of technological expertise, Wodun has custom-designed wear-resistant clad pipelines for this vessel. Utilizing a high-chromium alloy cladding composite process, these pipelines achieve a hardness of HRC58-62 while maintaining excellent toughness.
Testing has shown that, under simulated deep-sea dredging conditions, this pipeline boasts a service life more than three times longer than that of conventional products and can withstand temperature fluctuations ranging from -20℃ to 80℃. This collaboration not only fills a technological gap in China’s supply of wear-resistant pipelines for ultra-large-scale dredging equipment but also significantly enhances China’s competitiveness in the international high-end dredging market. Currently, Wodun has established a global network of wear-resistant material services through its three intelligent manufacturing bases.
